Slide Boxing
The sport of the future? No, cork-lined polystyrene boxes for holding microscope slides, complete with numbered slots and inventory sheets on the lids. The boxes are 8-3/4" x 6-3/4" x 1-1/3" with hinged lids. They are stackable, and you might get them in a variety of colors.

Zillions of little bottles. Renegades from a pharmaceutical company, leftover unfilled from runs of exotic we-know-not-what. We have divided them into three basic shapes: A, Narrow Mouth, h (Narr Mo) have a 10mm dia. x 4mm long neck on top of a squarish shoulder, a 13mm dia. 3mm rim and a 7mm dia. opening; B, Wide Mouth, (Wide Mo) have a 16mm dia. x 4mm long neck on top of a squarish shoulder, a 19mm dia. x 3mm rim and a 12 or 13mm dia opening; C, Sloped Shoulder, (Sl Sh) have roughly 5-6mm long neck that tapers from the soft shoulder to 15mm dia, with a 19mm dia x 3mm rim and a 12-13mm dia. opening. Height refers to height overall, and dia. to the body dia. in the table below. Great items for the doll house (for kids old enough not to swallow them), to hold tiny wild flowers, for decorative art work, individual cruets, or just to hold and marvel at. All quite sturdy glass. In the real world, you would pay from $75 (smallest) to $225 (biggest) for 288 of these, which is the smallest quantity you could get!! Narrow mouth bottles take a #00 cork. Okay, it isn't the cheapest magnet in the warehouse - but we dragged John's 165 lb filing cabinet around the dock with this 4-7/8" x 1" x 3/4" ceramic magnet, we're rating it conservatively at 100 lbs of pull, and we think it's a bargain. It has a 6" bracket with mounting holes on 5-1/2" centers, plus a 1/2" ID eyehook bolted into the center of it. It's all set to troll the bottom of the lake next time your filing cabinet falls overboard.

Absolutely magnificent magnet!! Very strong - we estimate it has a 35 lb. pull - neodymium-iron-boron (rare earth) that is only about 3/4” x 1-1/8” x 7/16” thick. It is actually trapezoidal, so the 1-1/8” dimension slants from 1” to 1-1/4”. They are pretty clean take-outs, painted silver, white or black, and may have some very small chips. Be careful!! These guys will murder a computer or audio/video tape. A pair will leap into a deadly embrace from over 6” apart and may knock chips off themselves from the force of their impact!! A single magnet holds (4) of our catalogs (11 oz, 5/16” thick) to the side of a steel file cabinet. We cannot say too much in favor of this magnet!!

Un-Bunsen Burner
So you don't have a gas jet in the garage? You don't think Margie and Ted are old enough to handle the high temperatures of a Bunsen burner? Our alcohol lamps are the answer. They burn alcohol (available at the hardware store), and are hot enough to boil water, to soften glass tubing for bending, and to generate the chemical reactions generally called for in science projects. The lamp is 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" glass bowl with a wick assembly that brings the whole to a height of 4-1/2" and comes with a handy little metal lid/extinguisher.

Wick Wacky?
Getting tired of buying them and trimming them and losing them? Get rid of wicks altogether with this nifty little alcohol burner with a copper capillary tube in place of a cotton wick. Burns 90ml of denatured alcohol and comes with a heat shield (packed inside the reservoir) and a burner cap. Don't forget to remove the little rubber plug - it's there to cover the holes in the copper tube when not in use. And this is lab equipment, so resist the temptation to use it under a chafing dish; initially, it flares up a tad more than is good for Swedish meatballs.
