LEDs By The Dozen
Light emitting diodes. Solid state devices that provide the ubiquitous power and indicator lights on your electronic gadgetry. Unlike lamps, there are no filaments that glow. Rather, some two volts of DC power at a miniscule 10 to 20 milliamps of current get the chemistry excited, and they just plain emit. Emit is a good word, too, as they don't really cast light, but glow brightly. We have a nice assortment of 3 and 5 MM diameter sizes in red, green, orange, and yellow. The longer lead is always positive, the shorter always negative, and you always need a current limiting resistor (about 500 to 1,000 ohms for 5 to 9 volt DC sources) to keep the current in the 10-20 MA range. If that's Greek to you you're either going to blow a lot of LED's or learn to change incandescent indicator lamps ! !

LED Displays
A big grab bag of LED display tiles. Assorted colors - red, green, amber - and displays. Small are 1" x 2" and smaller; 3-9 volts; and include seven-segment numeric, dot matrix, and alphanumeric. Sorry, we can't tell you what size or display you'll get, but Small has at least (4) different. Think of it as a surprise present from Uncle Barry. Hook 'em up and find out what he gave you!

RED LED
An LED that really shines. The red LED is configured with a resistor and works at 9-12 volts. It's held by a 1-5/8" bracket behind a 1-1/4" x 7/16" x 5/16" deep SPST slide switch, and has (2) 4" leads. All ready to roll.

Tiny Table Lamp
On tiny tables or the desktop, this lamp throws a nice puddle of light for its size. The 4-1/4" x 3" x 1-1/2" tall base supports an 8" long gooseneck with (14) bright white LEDs at the top. Silver-plastic and chrome, with a pushbutton switch on the base, it comes with (3) "AAA" batteries. We're putting ours on top of the dresser so maybe we'll finally be able to tell what color socks we're taking out of the top drawer, but it would make a nice little reading or camping lamp. Should give 15 hours of light with fresh batteries.

Long-Life Lamp
This multi-position LED lamp stands 10" tall and functions as a desk lamp, hand-held flashlight, or hanging light, and runs for 20-plus hours on a single set of (3) alkaline D-cell batteries. (Will also take a 4.5VDC female center plug adapter if you've got one.) Has (20) LEDs in a 4" x 2-3/4" oval reflective face that ratchets up and down. Includes a switch to choose all or just (10) of the LEDs. Silver and black plastic, its life span makes it a perfect emergency light.

The Ultra (Violet) Pocket Light
Our pocket-sized mini-flashlight has (8) ultraviolet LEDs and myriad uses, from checking for counterfeit U.S. currency to working the door at hip downtown clubs, spotting radiator and transmission fluid leaks, mineral identification, and (yes, it's true) finding scorpions in the dark. Measures 3-7/8" long x 1-1/8" hexagon, and comes with (3) "AAA" batteries for power and a canvas carrying case with a belt loop. You supply the scorpions.

Poor Man's Luminaria
It's a little 2-1/2" square base with brushed-aluminum-look sides and a mirrored top, in the middle of which 3 colored LEDs flash on and off in individual and combination patterns. Makes a dandy base to show off crystal and cocktail glasses, but stick a large styrene coffee cup upside down over it and put it in a dark room and you have the world's cheapest multi-color light show. Line up a dozen or so on the front walk and you've got the world's first flashing multicolored luminaria show for party nights. You add (3) "AAA" batteries.

Mighty Bright Loupe
This 8X folding loupe in white plastic and aluminum has a pair of very bright white LEDs next to the lens. Runs on (3) button-cell batteries, included, and has a tiny wrench to help you replace them. When folded, it looks like a standard coach's whistle, or a really big apostrophe. Forgive the package for saying 30X - if it didn't say it, we wouldn't have it!
